Bedside Manner
My hotel is one of those places where the pools have 'healing thermal powers.' Translation: a crapload of really old people chillax in a pool and cover themselves in mud. I'm pretty much the only person here under the age of 45 (aside from the staff). All the elderly women look at me like I'm an anachronism, which I basically am.
Anyway, there are a lot of these little rooms on the ground floor where you shut the door, cover yourself in mud, and take a bath. It looked more like a hospice to me, so I snuck down with my tripod, a dress that I bought at a market for 8 euros, and my camera for a little photoshoot. The geniuses decided it was totally cool to not be able to lock the door (just in case an old person starts to drown or something), so I had to push a table in front of it. Things were going well until one of the pool boys (or, as I say, 'tool boys' or 'pool toys') pushed through the table before I could yell "OCCUPATO!!" I mean, it's not everyday you see a girl in a dress taking pictures where old people normally sludge up. He asked (in Italian) "What are you doing?" and I did my best to explain. He proceeded (after I got dressed into normal clothes [WITHOUT him there, you perverts]) to show me some other rooms I could use. I kinda ran out after that.
I got a few good shots. Believe it or not, this picture is actually two images combined; I was inspired by the work of my favorite photographer, Ryan Obermeyer, who uses the best pieces a model's shoot to create one image.
