Larimar Budda

Larimar is a stone that can only be found in the Dominican Republic. For you geology nerds out there it's a type of Pectolite. This was in the Larimar Museum in Santo Domingo, DR.

ooh... I have Pectolite earrings! :)

From one Geology nerd to another - why can it only be found in the Dominican Republic? ;D

Hi Floresita! Not sure I know the answer to that one :( I guess I'm not as big of a geology nerd as I thought :( It might have something to do with the depositional environment and the closeness to all that sea water- also the right combination of minerals in contact with the stones :) But that's just a guess. Other types of Pectolites can be found elsewhere, but it's only found in this blue color in the Dominican Rebublic.
