unkempt

unkempt

over the summer, i liked walking my dog along a certain route, a sort of no man's land between my village and another one. it has quite an unkempt charm to it, weeds growing everywhere, vines snaking across the paved roads, seeping through the cracks in the ground.

this is from a sidewalk.

photo taken on the way to subic, from clark. what we have here is a lahar wasteland, the area surrounding mt. pinatubo, in pampanga. it was originally a color photo, but i tweaked the colors in JASC paintshop pro, and i decided i liked it better that way, despite the unnatural tones.

these are the magnificent bayyo rice terraces. (the village of bayyo was right beneath, to the right, but i wasn't able to capture it from this particular angle.)

we were on our way up to bontoc (or sagada, or banaue, argh, can't believe my memory is failing me) when we saw
this particular group of rice terraces, and i thought it was so quaint and pretty that i asked if the van could stop awhile so we could take photos. it came out pretty clear, actually--though at the actual time of taking, there was a lot of moving fog.

random: my arms were stretching out as far as they could go for this shot. i was standing on the edge of the road, with nothing but shrubs (see lower left side of photo) between me and the ravine below. these bayyo rice terraces were well below where we were, and a lot bigger than you think they are.

bougainvillea: unfurling

bougainvillea: unfurling

one of the many shots i took of my mom's bougainvillea flowers in bloom. (march is always a great time for bougainvillea, because apparently they enjoy the sweltering heat). yes, it is a super macro shot once more (you'll be surprised to see how small these flowers are in real life).

i love the pink bougainvillea. the white is a bit too pure and boring for me.
