Atrocious Customer Service from Renaissance Orlando
Photo-A-Day #1671
Sure this is a photo of my closet, it is at an odd angle, basically I phoned this one in today. Today's post on BenSpark.com www.benspark.com/atrocious-customer-service-from-renaissa... should explain why. Just had to comment on your misfortune at the Marriott Renaissance in Orlando. A roommate and I were staying there during that same time period (we were also at IzeaFest) and had similar problems. It seems that everywhere we turned we got a different story. The employees did not seem to know what they were doing, and instead of stopping to check on correct procedure, they plunged ahead doing whatever they thought was right at the moment. We checked in at different times (I was first) and were supposed to share the expense at time of checkout. I was assured my PayPal card would not be charged until checkout. (That account did not have enough $ to cover for both of us.) Fortunately, I checked my PayPal account that first night and found it had been charged for all four days for BOTH OF US, plus a $25 per day contingency fund against any possible incidental charges. It took a bit of on-line fund transferring to get the money from my savings to checking, then to PayPal to cover the total amount and there was a 3 day wait for the electronic transfer to take effect within PayPal. If I had not just happened to look at my account, it would have over-drafted into my checking account, bounced there, and hit my credit card and my husband and I would have both had to be scraped off the ceiling. Note: the reason I checked PayPal was to see if the contingency fund charged the week before by the Marriott in Boynton Beach had been removed yet. It was a good week after returning home that the accounts were settled. Thank God, we had extra savings to cover this fiasco.
I've had great experiences staying at the Marriott in the past and most of them employ helpful, knowledgeable staff and are generous with free coffee and even breakfast and internet access. The Renaissance's only free offering was a glass of champagne on check-in and a small tank of lemon slice-laden water near the front desk. Did they not understand that we are a bunch of BLOGGERS! Not smart!
