I began this piece just screwing around, without any definite intent. I only wanted something that was off, in some way. Disturbing, even. As it progressed, I realized that it was reminding me of another artist's work, more and more.
Every once in a while, I get inspired by another artist. In this case, my inspiration comes from a fantastically talented photographer/artist, Danielle Tunstall. Her images tend toward the macabre. I would go so far as to say beautifully macabre. If you've never seen her work, head over to her Facebook (www.facebook.com/danielletunstall) account or her website (danielletunstall.com). Though I didn't begin with her work in mind, I think it's obvious that I was subconsciously driven by my love of her work.
Thank you, Danielle, for putting so many wonderfully grim and disturbing images in my head!
