..... I know there are lots of cascading butterfly cakes out there and I'm afraid I do not know the name of the designer who created the original cake that the bride saw, so this is credited to anyone who's done one of these cakes ! I have, however, put my own 'twist' on it with the pearlised side border and pearl trim.
I did not make the butterflies ...... they are made from edible image
rice paper and the bride discovered them on-line and promptly fell in
love with them ! They are available here:
The bride is one of our daughter's friends ....... she is very much a "free spirit" and the wedding ceremony is to be held in a private wood and the reception will be in a marquee, so the butterflies are so appropriate !
I was delighted to be asked to make this cake as the bride is a very special young lady, having had to have an entire leg amputated due to cancer when she was just four years old. This has never held her back though, and she gives her all to everything ...... she even did VSO work after Uni. She's a very pretty girl and I know she will make a stunning bride !
Today is a perfect summer's day ...... clear skies and sun ...... perhaps even a touch too hot ! DH and I have been invited to join them later on tonight which will be lovely.
I am now off to set up the cake, then I must come back and ice the Christening cupcakes for tomorrow ...... busy, busy ! Hopefully I'll get to you all later !
