New speedometer assembled.

This guide will walk you through replacing the stock speedometer with a Kitaco aftermarket speedometer.

As far as I know, only Kitaco makes a speedometer for this scooter. It includes the LCD gas gauge and odometer (which will be reset when you install it--oops), a 120km/h speedometer (as opposed to the stock 60km/h, which is forever buried at the top end), and an oil light. The annoying blinking red light to tell you when you are over the Japanese legal scooter speed limit of 30km/h is, thankfully, missing.

Installation requires taking apart the handlebar housing and taking off the front cowling (for details on that, see my HOWTO on the CDI unit).

Tools required: Medium Phillips-head screwdriver, small flat-head screwdriver (for prying)
