That. really. makes. me. MAD.
What do they think they'll get out of pissing off their customers?! I too have had TiVo for four years, but this makes me think....

The day they announced having this crap a few years back I called and told them to shove their PVR. I unhooked it and it is still sitting in the closet. Makes me really glad I have not been paying these guys since.

It sucks that TIVO caved, but who you all should get mad at are the broadcasters and cable companies who are pressuring congress for laws removing/making moot the betamax decision and overriding Fair Use Doctrines and precidents left and right.

No question that fair use is being attacked from all sides. What I find distressing in this situation is that Tivo has no LEGAL need to do this. However, in an effort to expand their market (Netflix downloads, perhaps) they are bending to the will of movie studios and, in turn, losing their biggest supporters.
As if Tivo wasn't on shaky enough ground already, this should put them out of business once and for all.
