MeetUp Registration I really like the way that MeetUp provides examples of how others have introduced themselves in this screen. It makes the white space so much less confronting and significantly increases the likelihood that I'll actually complete this field - both because it's helping me with ideas, and also because I can see that others have done so (social proof)

I agree with you. By providing the examples in the right pane, they can estimate the length of the message they should write, and they can get a feel for what content might be good to include. The user may choose to upload a photo that's like one of the examples. Or they can choose to do something different, unique, or attractive.
