Just got back from a few hours in the wilderness (ok Snowdonia) with ickle bro. Bro was doing some long exposure star-trails, I was out to capture the milky way.
Still not quite what I wanted, even in the middle of Snowdonia, the light pollution is pretty bad, i'll have to wait for my trip to Iceland next month before trying it in anger.
I could probably tweak this to make the milky way more prominent, but it's 1:30am, i'm waiting for exchange server to install then i'm off to bed :p
Nikon D700, Nikon 18-35mm @ 18mm, f/3.5, ISO6400, 30secs.
And a new one, from the same spot.

I am continually amazed how such exquisite images can be taken at such high ISO speeds.
