Blue & Yellow on Crete

We are back from our 2+-week trip to Crete and very glad to be back home in Montana, with our own bed, our animal companions and the delayed spring we have grown used to in our Rocky Mountain abode.

Crete was absolutely awesome -- what a beautiful land with many stories to tell! The weather was perfect ... the wildflowers were at their amazing colorful peak, the light was totally different from the light I am accustomed to in Montana and the people and food were great!

I didn't shoot as many photos as I wanted to -- didn't have much time for such pursuits, and the ones I did shoot are mostly the flora of Crete. (I was there on a work trip and for a spiritual retreat, so I was more focused on that rather than taking artsy photos.)

I'll be posting more photos from Crete for a few days, so check back if you are interested!

    Part of the set, Crete.

Wonderful. It is peaceful and a great place for a spiritual retreat. I've glanced through the series briefly, will come back when I have a chance to linger.

Congratulations! This image is currently one of Flickr's most interesting photos for 27 April 2006 (A year ago today!). (It is on page one of the calendar view.) Would you please add it to the Interestingness pool? It would be a great addition!

@ Puzzled, thank you for the invite. Do I have to tag the photo with any special tag?

Hi John, thanks for all your comments and faves. Looks like you had a lovely stroll through my images. :-)
I shot this near Rodakino, Crete. Have you been there?

    28. johnj1963 (32 months ago | reply)

Hello Maureen. Yes, thanks for the opportunity to dream while I strolled - even if just for a little while! I have passed through Rodakino several times over the past 20 years, traveling along the south coast of Crete - usually to or from Plakias. That part of the world is my favourite retreat from reality. I too love the light and the stories which breathe through the land. The people are still so genuine and rooted in values which have disappeared from most of Europe. I shall return to your photostream to have another stroll when time permits but thanks in the meantime!
