Tucson is a desert and the winter has been blissfully warm, but just north, the sky islands of the Catalinas host the southernmost ski area in the US. An hour's drive (up up up) and you are in another world.

Today we went hiking at 8000 feet, meandering in and out of the sunshine, through snow (sometimes deep -- wet socks) and clambering over rocks. T'was delightful.

Just south of old Bisbee is a tiny place called Lowell, which is full of old cars, old gas pumps, and old signs -- and an old Sprouse-Reitz storefront, which brought back memories.
