The 72 cwt was the original design of these guns, which proved to be
too light, resulting in the naval gun design being modified to that of
82 cwt
76 of the light guns, which were already partly produced were then
finalised for land service as a 72 cwt gun.
There are two slightly differing versions A & B, Type A having a
2" longer barrel.
and shorter breach. Both these 72 cwt guns being 9'10" total
length.
