What intrigued me about these three steam
pipes merrily venting into the atmosphere on
a windy day was that the three plumes were
all shooting in different directions, an
effect I've seen before with the stacks of
New York power stations.
My best guess is that the wind is eddying
near the stacks, so a slight difference in
position results in a very different wind
direction.
