vintage unknown girl in a hat

    I really love this vintage girl with her hat being pulled down. And the weird shadow invading on the left. Pretty girl and mysterious, since there's nothing written on the back about who it is or when or where.

    One of many various photos found after my grandmother's death in November. They were all in a taped up box in her closet.

      What a find. Again, bless your grandmother! Those look like finger tips in the frame. Many people back then had no idea how a camera worked and held it with both hands wrapped around it. Lots of finger tips were photographed.

      It probably is a finger in the way, I agree. I can't believe these were all hidden away for decades in a taped up box!

      Frock doesn't seem to be used much as a word over here. Frock. Hm. :)

      Its a word that has become less used but it is one that really fits a summer dress..."summer dress" simply does not have the same resonance as "summer frock"

      We are in the process of sorting through my wife's mother's stuff. She died December 27 at age 91. We are finding tons of pictures. Our daughter took a suitcase full of black and whites home to scan and has promised us all a disk. Closets, cabinets, and drawers are yielding treasures as much as 80 years old. There are stacks of albums and boxes of loose prints. There must be a hundred framed pictures of family members displayed all over the house. It's like she left us one final gift.

      That's wonderful! Well, not that your wife's mother died, obviously, but that you'll have a lot of old photos of your family to show the world.
