vintage polaroid: mom and dad, 1968

An old vintage polaroid of my mom and dad looking at another polaroid. If only I knew and could find the polaroid he's holding! The particular camera used was:

That one is priceless. You can't get much better than that, for various reasons.

    Oh great!
The soft light (maybe due to fading) emphasizes the intimate and emotional moment.

i remember the polaroid swinger. i even remember the song:

    meet the swinger
    polaroid swinger
    meet the swinger
    polaroid swinger
    it's more than a camera
    it's almost alive
    it's nineteen dollars
    and ninety-five
swing it up, it says yes
    (pull the tab?)
pull it down, count it off!

okay, maybe i don't remember it all, but that's pretty good considering i've probably lost a whole lot of brain cells since this was popular... ;o)

    your parents look adorable.

Speaking of the commercial, it's great fun to watch...at the bottom of the wikipedia page, they have a link to it on YouTube.. Worth a look for the retro-fun factor.

Cute commercial. It seems nowadays they wouldn't bother singing the jingle twice.

whoa! i missed the video -- how close was i???? i guess i could go and watch it, but i know i'll just embarrass myself... :o/

i have a very strange memory. i can remember totally weird and obscure stuff from when i was a kid, and totally forget what i was supposed to do when i walk into the next room. it sucks getting old...

I posted it there some time back, I think.

You are correct. I found it. My father loved his Polaroid camera. He took pictures of stangers just to show them how it worked.

Thinking of getting a polaroid myself, so that's how I chanced upon your picture. It's beautiful -- the fading really adds to the nostalgia.

I love this picture. Beautiful picture of your parents. It is kind of neat to see pictures of our parents when they were young and full of life. Gives a different perspective on how you see them as individuals. Again, gorgeous picture of your folks! :)

Thanks. But I agree, it's one of the best and spontaneous I have of them. And they probably thought nothing of it at the time, just playing with a Polaroid.

freeparking, I love your familys vintage photos!
Since I love all things vintage and looking at photos in general, I can't stop looking. Your grandparents seem like quite the characters
and your family in general seems really fun and positive.
    I may be wrong. :)
But I really enjoy seeing these photos!

agent - well, I'm glad you like looking at them. That's the reason I started uploading my own, because I was enjoying seeing all the other vintage photos people were uploading. And sharing is fun!

what a great moment!! thanks for sharing this sweet photo with us.

p.s. your dad looks very james dean/rebel without a cause here!!

jena - Glad you like! But yeah, he looks like he's trying to imitate. I think he did his hair like that until 1974, when he went for longer hair and a beard and mustache. Ohhhh, the 70s, what hast thou wrought!
