While I was wandering around Route 66, I started feeling like that little bird in the book "Are You My Mother?" except at every broken down house I'd walk up and ask, "Are you my home?"
Something about these places tapped into a really deep connection of abandonment, disrepair, solitude and ultimately the need for a place to call home.

Beautifully captured. I know the feeling. You pass by these places and you think about the people who must have lived there at one point. They stand out so much more for being so isolated and alone, and there's a strong desire to make it your own, if only briefly.
