Golden Gate from Baker Beach

The sunset today here in SF was pretty amazing. I was viewing it down at the bluffs near Baker Beach. I feel I could have gotten a much better shot here if I had my telephoto lens, but I like all the sky in this one. This was straight from camera except for slight gradient overlay on the sky to simulate a GND filter.

I don't know if I think the low hanging cloud over the south stanchon ruins the shot or makes it more interesting.. I would love hearing others thoughts & opinions.

I agree, we had the longest sunset ever. Some fantastic clouds, and it happened while I was shooting a model with an infinite horizon. But if I was in SF, this is the exact spot I'd be in to capture the clouds. Nice work.

Great shot - I love the reflection of the sunset in the wet sand. The bit of cloud over the bridge adds interest I reckon. Nice composition too.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I think the oil from the recent spill has really made the sand much more reflective... which is cool but very disturbing also.

Aaron, love the sharp, metallic glow, and the reflection in the sand. I think your concern about the low-hanging cloud is correct. It draws the eye to a single, unimportant spot in the photo. But, still, its a great shot. Bob.
