Did you smell the oil when you took the
photo? I work near pier 23 and we could smell
it from inside our building. It smelled like
someone was pouring tar nearby, then we later
heard it was from the spill.

Faintly. It wasn't too strong, but when you catch a whiff of it, you know. To me it smells like straight fuel.
