Ritorna col redo,
mi guarda sott'occhi;
un bacio le chiedo:
mi fissa nelli occhi
con occhi sicuri -
e vuole
che giuri.
- O molle trifoglio,
o mani di gelo!
Che bene ti voglio!
Ti giuro sul cielo! -
Solleva una mano,
mi dice:
"è lontano!".
- Che sete di baci!
Morire mi pare.
Ah! Come mi piaci!
Ti giuro sul mare! -
Riflette un secondo,
mi dice:
"è profondo!".
Biancheggia sospesa
in fondo al tratturo
la Chiesa. - Ti giuro
fin sopra la Chiesa! -
Sorride bambina,
mi dice:
"è calcina!".
- Il fieno ci copra.
Ah! T'amo di fiamma!
Ti giuro fin sopra
la testa di mamma: -
Mi guarda supino,
mi dice:
"assassino!".
M'irride, ma poi
si piega "...m'inganni?"-
Ti giuro, se vuoi,
pei belli vent'anni! -
Solleva lo sguardo,
mi dice:
"bugiardo!".
