My great-aunt was one of the first women to rise to a position of responsibility in the railroad (she was also a suffragette). She believed strongly in women's rights at a time such things were not taken seriously. She made sure my mom got a good education so she could escape a life of housewifery. Alas, housewifery was what my mom chose...
