This side would normally have electronics, but I have mine mounted in the bottom cavity.

I am using a 1U ATX power supply, which allows me to mount th electronics in the bottom. Yes, that's an SD card slot

Makerbot internal electronics (full)
I think all makerbots should have internal electronics. I may even be possible with a regular ATX power supply if the stepper controllers are stacked.
