Last weekend, I was in a Vadia, a small village in Gujarat to attend a mass wedding. Vadia is infamously known as village of prostitutes. In an effort to stop young girls from entering into flesh trade, an NGO organised the mass wedding. The girls belong to Sarania community, and as per traditions married/engaged girls can not be forced to enter flesh trade. The Saranias of Vadia are known for traditionally pushing its women and girls into prostitution. The male members of the community act as a connection between the pimps (and, sometimes themselves acting as pimps) and prospective clients. Saranias are one of the the 28 nomadic communities in Gujarat.

It's been long I've uploaded any photograph .. in fact, I just noticed it's been exactly a month.. i've not been shooting since my camera conked off about 6-7 weeks back and i didn't get any time to get it repaired.. also, i've been revisiting old photos..

my work on Gotipua dance has been selected to be showcased at the Delhi Photo Festival starting in about one month from now. so, if any one of you is in New Delhi between Oct 15 to Oct 28.. pls visit the festival.. photographic works by around 70 photographers from around 24 countries will be on display..
