Setup I used the dark field lighting setup described in "Light: Science & Magic". A Speedlite 430EX at 1/4th power was shot through a white translucent plastic sheet. I placed a black cardboard between the white background and the glass. The Speedlite was triggered with a 580EX II on the camera. This is a tight crop of the original file and I'm looking forward to replace my 50mm Macro with a 150mm and try this again using the entire frame.
I punched a small hole into the bottom of a cheap plastic box to improvise a drop generator. Since the flow was a little to fast I pushed the ISO and decreased the flash power for faster cycling times.
Aufbau Ein Speedlite 430EX auf 1/4 Leistung blitzt durch eine halbtransparente weiße Plastikscheibe. Zwischen der Scheibe im Hintergrund und dem Glas im Vordergrund war eine Stück schwarzen Kartons, mit dem das Licht nur seitlich und von oben als Reflektion im Wasser sichtbar ist. Das ist im wesentlichen die als Dark Field Lighting beschriebene Technik aus dem empfehlenswerten Buch "Light: Science & Magic". Der 430 wurde mit dem 580EX II auf der Kamera ausgelöst.
Als Tropfen-Generator habe ich in die Unterseite einer Plastikbox ein kleines Loch geschnitten, durch das die Tropfen regelmäßig abfließen konnte. Leider war der Fluss zu schnell, so dass ich die ISO rauf und die Blitzleistung runtergedreht habe, um ein schnelleres Laden des Blitzes zu erreichen.

Was machst du mit dem Aquarium eigentlich, wenn es nicht gerade für sowas herhalten muss?

Danke dmoch. Das ist nur ein Wasserglas - ich hatte keine Lust das Aquarium zu putzen :-) Normalerweise steht das unter der Spüle und ist voll mit Reinigern, Klarspüler, Schwämmen und solchem Kram.

Die Hemmschwelle, mir so ein Dingen mal anzuschaffen, um auch was in der Richtung abzulichten, ist nämlich ganz schön hoch... wohin mit dem Ding danach... und wielange überlebt es in meiner WG (dem natürlichen Feind von Allem zerbrechlichem) :-)

Nice one, I was just thinking about trying some dark field lighting of drops and wanted to see if anyone else had done it. I hope to produce results as good as yours!
