As you enter the main gates of Bay South at Gardens by the Bay, be awed in the full splendour of three Supertrees clad in a bright visual spectacle of gold and yellow coloured bromeliads.
While at the Silver Garden, a mix of grey and silvery epiphytes cover another set of three Supertrees, creating a warm romantic ambience. Besides the Supertrees, discover other plants in the Silver Garden, such as various species of Palms and the Tropical Blue Bamboo.
A Supertree is covered by a variety of over 162,900 plants comprising varieties of bromeliads, orchids, ferns and tropical flowering climbers. The tallest Supertree in Gardens by the Bay stands at 50m high while the shortest one is at 25m high. There a total of 18 Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay, all located within Bay South. Twelve of the Supertrees can be found in the Supertree Grove (will opens in JUNE 2012) while the others are placed in clusters of threes in the Golden and Silver Gardens respectively. The Supertree comprises four parts which are the reinforcement concrete core that upholds the structure, the trunk that’s attached to the core, the planting panels for installation of the living skin, and lastly the canopy.
The design and structure of the Supertrees are inspired by the dominant trees of the rainforest.
