Ramesh Gorjala's traditional images are drawn from the narrative and iconic paintings of Kalamkari from the town of Sri Kalahasti, near Tirupati. His work depicts the multilayered imagery of gods, goddesses, demons and mythical creatures. The chaos of plant, animal, and bird are part of his vocabulary. Most unique is his ability to layer his principal images with narratives of the deities.Ramesh graduated in Fine Arts from Jawaharlal Nehru Techincal University in Hyderabad. He learned Kalamkari art from Dr Balaji Theertham and has successfully combined his kalamkari heritage and university arteducation to create something truly magical.
