I had a feeling they might not last. When the guy at the top changes the name from Washington Mutual to a non-word sound like WaMu, he is not taking his bank seriously.

Dave--There was also a sense of willy-nilly growth; when they entered the Chicago market I was getting three to five letters a week from different branches asking me to open an account and to refer clients to them. It had an air of desperation about it.
