Nearby Husky Stadium is undergoing a major renovation. Really a reconstruction from the ground up.

This means a lot of construction traffic to navigate in the neighborhood. They are also digging a new subway station and tunnel in the same area. And the Evergreen Point Bridge will begin construction in the next few years with extensive redesign and construction work in this immediate area.

If you live around here, it's going to be a test of patience over the next decade or so.

Here, the construction walls are peppered with images of students and employees of the University of Washington. That was a good idea. We're going to have to live with this for several years. Beats the usual bland plywood.

Husky Stadium has always been one of the most eloquent sports settings. On the shore of Union Bay, a cove of Lake Washington, boats of all sorts come up to the dock to unload folks for the games and host postgame parties.

Yesterday, a storm blew through the region whipping up fierce winds and waves. Although the water in the image here doesn't look bad, believe me when I say the winds were howling and the waters very choppy. And cold.

I've always wondered how these apartments or condos jutting out into Puget Sound in West Seattle fair during these fall and winter storms. Do they rock? Or do the storms pass relatively unnoticed?

I'm guessing they are more solid than they appear. They've been here for years.
