This guy isn't one of our Chinchillas. He belongs to someone we met through a local Chinchilla rescue. This guy actually seemed to enjoy modeling different costumes.

Our girls would never tolerate us putting clothes on them

That is adorable. I'm making a mental note to save it for my friend on a rainy day.

This is beyond precious. Not sure what's better - the costume or the expression on his face

This picture was taken at a party I hosted in Sunnyvale CA. DJ is MY CHINCHILLA and this person does not have my permission to post this picture. I was not even aware this picture existed and you would think this person would have offered THE OWNER of the chinchilla a copy and asked permission to post it and use it for their own purpose.

Actually Dawn since you invited people to take pictures of DJ posing in his outfit at the chinchilla party, back in 2006, I didn't see any issue sharing the photo online. Perhaps it would have been best if you had informed people that cameras were not allowed at the party.

I have NEVER claimed this was our chinchilla and saw the picture as a way to draw attention to chinchillarescue.org. The picture was indeed taken by me and has never been used for any purpose other than sharing with my friends, family and flickr folks.

The picture has been removed from flickr.

Best Regards to you and your chinchilla family

Posting it online for the entire world to see and use for their own purposes so it can show up on many other websites is the issue, sharing it privately is not a problem and I assumed people there would have the decency to ask if they could post it online for ALL the world to see and not take it upon themselves to advertise D.J. May he rest in peace finally and not have his image for all to make fun of and call the owner a animal abuser.

The picture was never offered for sale in any way and no rights were included for use anywhere other than viewing on Flickr (a photo sharing service)

I'm a photographer I take pictures, I share them mainly for feedback from other photographers so I can continue to improve my skills. Copyright laws being as complex as they are, I have since consulted with a copyright specialist it is my understanding that a "model release" is not required for animal subjects unless they are well-known animals, and are protected, not because they are "animals", but because their likenesses are trademarked.

No harm was ever intended Dawn, I have respected your request to remove the image.

I'm terribly sorry to hear D.J. passed on my condolences
