Riding High

These gentlemen were happy to have made the three hour kayak trip from Lunenburg's Back Harbour to The Point in Blue Rocks. They had to make the trip at high tide – otherwise they would have had to turn back.

Westhaver Island Light

Local folklore has it that the granite stones in the foreground were part of the foundation of Westhaver Island lighthouse, which burned in 1887. Still a beacon at the head of Mahone Bay harbour, the light today is simply a fiberglass tower on a circular caisson. Originally, however, it was quite picturesque - as can be seen here.
