I've Moved

I've Moved

Hi there, well after 5 years or so I need to do a bit of housekeeping. Rather than deleting a load of old photos from this stream, I've decided to start a fresh with a new account. Its also a chance to stop hiding behind 'kantryla'

I'd just like to thank all my contacts who over the past 5 years have supported, commented, fav'd my work, and most of all who have inspired me to progress with my photography.

Please feel free to follow me over on a new chapter on my new Flickr Page

You can also follow me on any of the following links....

Spinnaker 2

Spinnaker 2

Whilst I love my last shot of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth - its not the shot I'd had in my mind before I got there. What I really wanted was something much more high key something I'd not seen done. So when I arrived (the afternoon before the last shot was taken) conditions were perfect, nicely over cast but still with some strong(ish) sunlight casting shadows just about right. This is what I'd envisioned and I'm glad it came off.

Spinnaker

Spinnaker

So I guess things couldn't be anymore different if I'd tried between this shot and my last. I've been wanting to get down to Portsmouth to shoot the Spinnaker for ages, I got a chance the day after a Michael Levin workshop in Brighton. I haven't yet looked at my Brighton shots - no doubt I will, I was far more excited by this. The conditions were just great, I spent an evening around an about and the next morning got there and we had clear blue skies, the odd whispy cloud, nice bright sunshine.

Happy with this shot - I like the high contrast but also experimented the other way with something more high key. Not a massively long exposure - but still taken with an ND110 - that's how bright it was - 15 seconds that's all.

Storm 3

Storm 3

Another from my set of summer storms across the Suffolk county side. This was taken just down the road from where I live and was somewhat of a different challenge to the others. Here I was much closer to the storm and even in portrait I couldn't get the top of the clouds in, so this is an 18 shot panorama, 3 rows of 6 shots all in landscape mode.

More about these shots can be found over on my blog pages www.kantryla.net/blog

More Storms

More Storms

Continuing my theme of storms over Suffolk this was taken on my way home from the station. Luckily I had all my kit with me for once, so found a vantage point to try and capture the whole storm pushing across the landscape. Once again more than a little inspired by Mitch Dobrowner's exceptional work.

This was also the first shot taken with my new lens - Nikon 16-35 f4 VR. Its super sharp although quite large. Perhaps not an obvious choice for my camera - but I'm hoping its a little future proofing when I eventually go full frame.

Once again I've been a little quiet recently. My time has been spent - for once out with the camera - but also on my new website - which can be seen here: www.kantryla.net. Would love to know what you think.
