Great use of the effect. It just a little bit different than the typical aerial view.

i like how you got in between the tree branches with the blur. very nice detail that makes it more believable.

Excellent work! Must have been extremely painstaking to get the blur in between the tree branches.

Thanks! It wasn't as hard as it looks. I used gimp, with 3 layers. The bottom layer was blurred heavily, the middle layer was white during editing (and marked invisible during the export), and the top layer was "erased to transparent" during editing. With the white intermediate layer, I could easily see what and how much I was erasing of the top layer.

With some careful selection of brush size for the eraser, it wasn't too difficult around and through the tree branches. I think the most difficult portion (I was using a mouse rather than pen and tablet) was around the top and bottom of the bridge.

I stare at this one for a long time and I still can't believe that it isn't a mini model. Well done!

First off...hats off, excellent job. I wonder whether the fake tilt-shift approach works a bit better on subjects where the blurred background portion is less realistic. What I mean is that the only thing preventing me from fully believing this is a close of of a mini-model is the waterfall. It is very hard to believe that the waterfall is part of the model, just out of focus (it looks too real). Other backgrounds such as buildings and trees are much easier for the mind to believe were part of a model. We see them in train sets all the time.
Does that make sense? Anyway, just a thought.
      Great work.

      great job.
lots of people dont understand this "focused area" thing on tiltshift method... this is really good example about it.

    31. KarmenRose (88 months ago | reply)

Is this technique something like the Photomatix software?

looks awesome. i believe the waterfall, that whole layer looks 2d like a poster or smthng. AWSM!!

    37. plaggenplei (84 months ago | reply)

GREAT! because it's one of the less examples which show that an unfavorable view need not be inappropriate for a tilft shift fake! this work shows that the blurring effect created on different layers does a very large mini-effect on the whole photo. so -> really well done!
