West Pier Starlings, Brighton

So, my first video uploaded to Flickr, then.

Video on Flickr? Hmmm...

First thoughts were dread that Flickr will edge closer to YouTube, with the inane brainless commenting that goes on there.

Then, after seeing some great videos uploaded by some of my contacts, I started to come round.

And when I think about it, it does make sense to keep one's visual goodness together, rather than having to actively maintain an account elsewhere for photos that happen to move.

We shall see...

This seems like a perfect first video to put up. Lovely.

Broadband is too slow and too expensive in NZ to make video practical for me at the moment. Even uploading the few photos I do is a chore.

That's a cool little vid you shot there all the same. Reminds me of the blowing paper scene in American Beauty.

I don't understand how someone would be anti-video after this.

This is a perfect example of how video will NOT trash the Flickr community. You really would not be able to capture the birds this way in a single frame.

This is my first faved video. I hope there are many more to come.

    My first video fave. :)

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

I actually took this video over a year ago with the video mode on a compact camera.

Originally I preferred another version, closer-up, that I put on Google Video and my blog, but now, when I look again, I much prefer this.

    Pleased you like it.

I was not happy with the thought of video, but then i saw this and realised the 'bigger' picture.

Basically if your contacts are crap you'll end up watching crap, however if your contacts are good you will be mightly impressed.

    Great video.

One of my best memories of living there was standing at the West Pie and watching the Starlings at sunset.... Shame there are so many less since it was rendered as toast (even if the skeleton does look a lot better : )
