Typography: Principles of Business Data Processing, SRA, 1970
Bought for the cover, the graphics. Thrifted. Great typography by illustration designer, Barbara Ravizza for book cover: Principles of Business Data Processing. Published by Science Research Asociates, Inc. , a subsidiary of IBM. 1970. I bought this book for the cover, having no knowledge of, nor interest in data processing of 1970 or today. SOLD! (to me) I love it. (This image is inside on the first pages).

Hi Kola. At the top of the image, where it says, "Add to Favs", "Add Note," "Blog This," ...and then, "All Sizes"...click on the last one, and you'll see the larger image.

Don't you love the swirling letters on the right, like whirlpools, and the way the letters are all chaotic...then, as through an hourglass neck or funnel of the data processing, they become sorted, organized and linear? How visually fun. As carson.a pointed out, it's like concrete poetry. I used to write some concrete poetry! Now, that puts me all in a state of fluxus. I'll have to post some one of these days.

I meant that it wasn't where it is supposed to be.

Oh, that's odd. I wonder what happened to it? Sometimes the "Add Note" or "All Sizes" is missing when I look at other people's images at Flickr. I'm not sure why it's missing, tho.

We can feel the letters like animated, moving through the funnel.

Exactly! There is a feeling of movement and change. The feeling is good, too, even glad. The information (letters of communication) seems content to be as it is, whether it is disorganized or being organized. As water seems content to be conformed and adapted to any shape or place or situation it finds itself in. Ah, to be like that as a human being, to be flexible and content in oneself always. It must be something like enlightenment seems to be.

I can't decide which one I like more: the BW or the orange! :)

Me, either, carson.a, but I think that it is a stronger graphic in black and white, if not just due to the stronger contrast in tones. The it oranges are softer and subdued, and has its own charm.

I agree, bo_gazi. It is a great graphic work. It does have quite a few favorited bookmarks, though.
