or whatever this place is actually called. the slide is to the right, a westbound is to the left, there was snow, fog, snowy fog, and a lot of wind up there. it was glorious.

my brother is a good sport about the train watching, and whenever i come back east to visit the family, i know he'll be good for a night or two along the tracks. tonight, he and i ventured down to the familiar haunt of CP 88 on bethlehem's south side. he was more enthralled with my ipad (angry birds is pretty awesome on the big screen) than the CP freight switching in front of us, so i figured at the last minute to open the door on my mom's car (mine is in the shop) for some dome light assistance, and this is what i ended up with. a little noisy, yeah, but who cares when you're having this much fun with family?

this is a shot i had been thinking about for a while - westbound under the hill-to-hill, framed by the oddly not-yet-replaced crossing flashers that protect riverside drive. luckily, a slow-moving stack train just starting out of 88 departed right after we got down there, the moisture in the air adding some life to the headlight beams. not only is this shot at iso 3200, but it's handheld. not bad, if i do say so myself.

a pano (gotta love that point and shoot!) of the xmas setup under the dome at west baden. we'll be there shooting the new year's eve gala in a few days' time, but i wanted some reference shots beforehand. words really can't describe how cool it is to stand inside the atrium and look up.
