twitchers, Dawlish, 12-Nov-06

Part of the crowd of twitchers watching this amazing Long-billed Murrelet in Devon this morning.

News of this bird's presence was broadcast at 9.18 am on Saturday morning and most dedicated twitchers based in the southern half of the country would have headed down to Devon straight away. Those of us who were more laid back left it for today and here's a few of us, along with some from further afield who weren't able to make it before dark yesterday. Fortunately the Murrelet hung around so we all got to enjoy amazing views.

This is, of course, just a snapshot of a section of the crowd watching at one point in time this morning. Over the course of the week-end, I imagine several thousand twitchers would have enjoyed this extraordinary bird!
