What a lovely way to end this year, and start anew. A new young dog really does turn back the clock.

Sadly, we lost our old boy Mulligan a few months back; he was suffering in the end and we knew it was time. The very next day, we felt so much better knowing that he'd never have to get through another day as tough as his last.

Although we were initially thinking of adopting an older dog, when I saw this pup on Hamilton's Ugly Mutts Rescue website I KNEW he was the one. And he is! Our girlie Whimsy Whippet is totally out of her funk and playing like she's hasn't in years.

Rebus will be a bundle of nonsense for a while yet, but he's as sharp as they come, and has learned so much over the past 13 days that we are frankly amazed. He'll be teaching us old dogs a few tricks soon enough. ;-)

So Flickr Friends, Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to you and yours. And my wish for us all for 2012: may every day bring new sights and sounds; may every day be an adventure. Peace.
