Take a Seat.

Take a Seat.

A second picture from my revitalising 22 May 2012 lunch-time stroll around Mount Stewart's grounds. This stone bench, shaded by a splendid Copper Beech tree ( Fagus sylvatica cuprea ), provided a fine place to sit down, relax, and watch the world pass by. I have to confess, however, that it was rather hard and provided no back support !

I'd really appreciate it if you did not incorporate your own photostream badges, etc. into your comments : I simply haven't enough time to give them the attention they deserve. Sorry. I should also be grateful if you did not post your own photographs or Flickriver strips etc. into the comment boxes below.

Summer walk.

Summer walk.

Another picture taken in one of my favourite places - the grounds of Mount Stewart, the National Trust's splendid property near Newtownards, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. I had just taken one coach party round the mansion and, feeling the need for some rest and relaxation before taking another, spent a heavenly half hour strolling round the luscious - and sunlit - gardens which surround the house.

I've always been in two minds about whether, or not, to include figures in a landscape picture, and generally do not do so. I've done so in this picture, however, because I felt that the walkers added a central - but not too intrusive - point of focus.

Alone.

Alone.

During a break in my son's wedding reception, I caught a glimpse of this solitary bench, and was struck by the contrast between it and the happy bustle of excitement going on in the hotel room just behind me.

Flickr fuel ?

Flickr fuel ?

No proper Flickr day out is complete without at least two coffee stops ! This picture was taken during one at the Pretty Crafty Design Studio & Willow Garden Tea Room, Castlerock [ www.prettycraftydesign.com ]. I feel that using B. & W. emphasises the coffee foam's texture and shape in a way the the colour version does not.

This is the third, and last, picture from our Flickr North Coast trip on 22 April 2012.

P.S. In light of some early comments, let me make it clear that I am tee total !!!

Another image from our Flickr Day Out on the North Coast. Taken at the rural 17th. Century cottage of Hezlett House, one of Northern Ireland's oldest buildings, and now in the National Trust's care.
