Orchard of my Dreams
Weeell... I don't know... I tried to make a boring shot a bit more interesting, but I don't know if I really succeeded! :)

In the old days we used to manipulate our photos in the darkroom. Now PhotSHop has replaced the chemistry, and tricks of the trade we used before.
He who becomes a master of that program will succeed and have always a competitive advantage over those posting images straight from the camera.
This is your first posting to the 100 points group and I want to welcome you and thank not only for posting a very interesting, wel composed and well processed capture, but sharing the technique you used to create it. This way we can all learn and grow.
Welcome to the group! Enjoy your stay and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

kudos on recognizing that the image needed work. i need more of the photoshop skills myself. unfortunately for me, this image still is not as strong as it could be. it does have a certain antique, horror-movie feel to it, but given the composition, the subject just doesn't move me.

with a bit of work, you might be able to make something interesting out of the original shot — i just don't think this is it.
keep trying, though.

You didn't make a mess out of it. but you should also test on a not boring (quoted) picture.

Doesn't quite work, a bit more work might help, lift the shadow areas a bit for a touch more detail, the effect is good though

I think you have succeeded in improving an otherwise so-so shot.

Hejsan Guldie, nice to find you from here. I (still) like the spooky feel, shot has improved. But from the original i would have kept some the tones from bottom, even bottom is under exposured in the original. There's too much black now. Light isn't the best.

A minor improvement to a poor exposure. You'd have to do more detail work to make the image editing appear less obvious.

I'm not really sure what effect this is, but personally I don't like the burnt out sky and the large dark area at the bottom. Otherwise, it looks like a lovely place!

Many many thanks everyone! Seventy points is a massive breakthrough for me, I only got about forty last time :) I know I need a lot more skill, both in PS-ing and just in taking pictures, and I thank you for the constructive and positive way in which you've given me your views and advice. I''ll keep trying :)
