A New Beginning...
This is my first post for the New Year. A little late but I guess better late than never right ;-) While I’ve been away I’ve been visiting other photography sites and just plain old looking at photography instead of taking it, which really helped to motivate me. I’m always trying to learn more about the art of photography and constantly trying to raise the level of my own photography. This year I’m looking to achieve a cleaner and sharper look, without losing the mood I intend to capture. Not to say that the dreamy HDR IR photos will be put to rest, but overall I want to achieve a less muddled look.
I’ve received a lot of emails regarding the purchasing of my work for
public and private use and I want to say that I should have this
underway very soon, now that all of my photos are registered with the
copyright office in D.C. To my contacts, I know many of you are
selling your work online, my question to you is do you have any tips
or suggestions about websites that can help in these matters? I would
be most grateful if you could send me a link via email or in a
comment.
Ok, folks I hope all of you have had a great start to the New Year and
I’m looking forward to visiting your photostreams and seeing what I’ve
been missing. :-)
About the Photo:
Being swamped for time last autumn I hardly had time to go out and take shots of the foliage. I did manage to get one session in while visiting my parents. Unfortunately the leaves had all fallen and were all starting to die. So with this photo I tried to make the most of the situation. The mood I intended to capture in this photo is not about death but about the ending of life in hopes of starting a new one with a fresh start.
Processing:
Not an HDR, just a single Raw file processed in Photoshop with very
little adjustments.
To see in Large: View On Black

Wow! The transparency in those leaves is fantastic. Wish they were more yellow but when there's no time there's no time. Beautiful.

See look, there are still people on Flickr, you can't leave for 1x. I've been trying out the one exposure raw thing too, have to say, i really am liking it. What is going on with the edge lighting on the leaf on the left in this picture? It looks blue?

@Ludicrousspeed: I'm not totally leaving Flickr, haha just seeing what's out there ;-) I'm glad that the one exposure thing is to your liking, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. About the photo, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it, thanks for pointing that out.

Nice to hear your works are on the way for selling!!!
I really like this one, Bruce. Splendid golden light, tones and composition.
As for your personal artistical growth, I'm in the same place: I'm trying to learn as much as I can about art in general (with a deep insight on photography) and hope 2010 will bring some more definite style to my captures.
Anyway, hope your 2010 will be great!!

Yes, I can see that this is definitely out of the norm for you (smile). But you're right, one must always keep striving to learn new and interesting ways to keep going. I do too, although I am not by any means an expert at anything. I especially would like to learn to create panoramic pictures this way, and learn about HDR too if at all possible (been busy too like you which doesn't leave me with a lot of free time). So, any ideas there on how to get started would be appreciated. I wish I could help you too with what you are looking, but unfortunately have very limited knowledge in that area (a friend of mine has been wanting to do the same too although she paints). So, anyway, more later then? Thank you so much for stopping by. Love your pictures as always.
