Sen. Obama will take the oath of office on the steps of the west facade of the Capitol. You can see the stands already being built. After the swearing in ceremony, and perhaps a reception / lunch with congress, a motorcade will carry him and his family down Pennsylvania avenue to the White House. The traffic signals can be removed from the avenue, and will be removed before the motorcade goes down the avenue. It will be interesting to see if he steps outside of the motorcade and walks down the avenue. I believe that Jimmy Carter was one of the first recent presidents to do so. This shot if from the terrace of the Newseum. The terrace will be closed to the public. Although the Newseum will be open to the public, you can no longer buy tickets ahead of time to get in. In addition, those that have a yearly pass will only be allowed in until the museum has reached it's full capacity. That is, if you can get to the museum!
