Squash mould abstract 3

Winter storage Squash, mould on skin detail

Several different types of fungi had colonised this squash,
    and show differing interaction boundaries.
The squashes had been in storage since October.
This skin of this one had probably not been ripened
long enough in the sun before being stored.

Fascinating! An overlooked community up close. Did you take save the squash so you can watch changes over time?

Great abstract, did you just slap it on the scanner?

Its hard to call moldy food attractive, but this comes close. I like the abstract quality. Very rich graphically.

Great detail and I love the concept.

Thank you all for your comments.
This was quite a large orange elongate type, of dubious parentage, as the seed was saved. A segment of skin with flesh attached was placed on the scanner, and the central area close to the glass was scanned.
I have kept the skin, but it will now dry rather than continue decaying.

ewwww! awesome! I have some experiments like this in my kitchen, but they always end up as trash instead of beautiful photos.
