so how did the communication go? was their English at least decent??

Yeah most of them spoke English surprisingly well. The technology made communication pretty problem-free. All in all, it went well. If you feel like observing one day (why you would want to get up so early is beyond me), I can give you the contact info for my profs. So much better than your typical lecture.
