Superb Fairy-wren

This tiny bird is a Superb Fairywren (known colloquially as the Blue Wren) in full male breeding colours. Females and non-breeding males are dull brown. They are common across south-eastern Australia – but that doesn’t make them any less delightful.

This one was hopping about near our walking path in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, east of Melbourne.
