Me and the Magpies

    Australian Magpies, Sydney, Australia 2005
Bendy-Toe and Big-Mouth are second generation visitors to the garden and are part of the family. I have started to teach them hide and seek - they're pretty good at it, they cache excess food naturally, and will steal each other's supplies. I give them lean raw mince. If they have a belly full of worms then they go and hide the mince around the garden, trying not to let each other see the hiding spot.

How cool! I love their markings. Very unique birds.

Now I know why Newcastle United are called Magpies. Named after the bird with black and white markings.
