I'll be a purist and say you can't get any oranger than an orange. That said, the Oriole is certainly dressed appropriately for his feast! :-)

It's darn near a tie. I love these birds. I put out oranges all the time, no luck. Great shot:)

Tom, put out grape jelly they like that way better it seems. Right now my oranges are just sitting there not being eaten but they go through a jar of jelly every 3 days!

Hi Nature55, May I ask what do you put the Grape Jelly in or on..I would like to attract those pretty birds....I have an Oriole feeder hanging on a tree for 3 months but I haven't seen one Oriole. I live upstate NY.

    16. nature55 (72 months ago | reply)

Well I actually put the grape jelly in a small tupper-wear bowl and place it on my deck railing. My neighbor puts hers on a plate on her picnic table. Just make sure it's something non-breakable and something that they can stand on and reach in or that they can easily get at.

I vote for the bird... Really great shot! I would have never thought to use grape jelly. I'll have to try that sometime.

Thanks Nature, I think I will put the jelly in a plate on a picnic table in front of my livingroom window tomorrow during the day, otherwise the raccoons with be sure to have a go at it.

Beautiful shot - wish we could see orioles here regularly. Had a stray Hooded that showed up one winter for a few weeks - we were quite excited to see it.

My favorite bird . I can't seem to get them to my backyard for a photo session though. Maybe I use the wrong brand of oranges. Great capture.
