As the tide retreated, the ledges started to reveal themselves.

The end of a lovely if not wet day with the gents down in Dorset. In the far distance, you can see Mupe and its wonderful stacks/islands/lumps of rock.

One of the first shots from the 2011 Umm Christmas outing, A rather wet, but lovely day. Only marred by the absence of Steve.

The Winter Solstice at Stonehenge was much busier than past. Without snow or sub-zero temperatures there was I think double the numbers, still nowhere near the thousands that flock there for the Summer Solstice.

This year I think was the first time I had seen the sunrise there, normally in deepest Wiltshire the cloud, fog or snow gets in the way, but this time with much drumming, hooting and singing, the sun was dragged out of hiding and was persuaded ( hopefully ) to come a little closer over the next six months.

The normal mix of people were at the Stonehenge and the Winter Solstice Celebrations this morning. Some had come along way to view the sunrise. I heard accents from around the globe.
