I am a professional storyteller and this is a morning shot at one of the events I participated in the "Trail of Courage" near Rochester ,Indiana. This Amish family was walking along with the father backing everyone up. It was a telephoto shot since the Amish do not like their photos taken.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Religions - freedom of religion, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Why don't you responsibly recognize their desire to not have their pictures taken and act respectfully to these people, instead of violating their beliefs. It's really no different from you taking a picture in your neighbor's bathroom window of them in the shower.

Oh Biker Dan, it's a lot different. They're in a public place, for one. If my neighbor were showering in the street I'd have every right to photograph him.
Plus, it depends on the community, but they're not nearly as persnickity about it as you'd think. I'm illustrating books of Amish stories and have been given a bag of photographs the Amish took themselves so I can get a feel for their family!

Personally I'm with Dan. It's just wrong & inconsiderate to their beliefs. They should be able to freely walk anywhere they want without having to worry about having their photo taken & then shown for all to view.
