3 inch squares
I cut 3 inch squares from the charms. I realize now that 2.5 inch squares would be enough and give you a lot more straps from one pack.
I used 9 squares - which gave me a 20 inch cover. Look at the length of your strap and the size of your patchwork pieces to determine if you need more or less.
