to raise awareness for the children in many countries unable to afford protection for their feet.
i’m not going to lie, today was one of the hardest days i have ever come by. it’s crazy to realize how important shoes are, and how much prejudice you get from people who are ignorant, or are too “good” for everyone else.
walking into stores was one of the hardest things i had to go through. i wasn’t allowed in many stores because of having no shoes. imagine, that’s what i thought was hard. what about for the people in developing countries who are suffering diseases they have gotten from not being able to afford such materials we are lucky to have.
today was definitely an eye opener, to say the least. i’m thankful for many reasons, but never have i realized the importance for such a material i can afford, and to live in a country where having no shoes is looked down upon. so, be thankful you guys… having shoes is one of many things we should appreciate.
whether you participated today or not, i hope you gained respect for the shoes you wear everyday, helping you avoid diseases other people get from not being able to wear shoes.
HA i just realized those are VANS and not TOMS, but you get the jist. It's not just the Toms Shoes wearers who take part on One Day Without Shoes, but everyone :)
